velopment and Resource Centre, a  non governmental  organisation in the Niger Delta has urged for laws to check the continuous pollution of the Niger Delta.
The Executive Director of the Centre, Miss Emem Okon, who said this in an interview with The Tide at a two-day capacity  building training for media personnel on reporting violence against women, said that the continuous pollution of the Niger Delta has made the region vulnerable for natural disasters.
Okon said that the authorities should formulate polices that will checkmate the various activities that are inimical to the environment.
She also said that in line with the concept of climate justice government needs to do something on the situation of millions of people who migrated due to climatic condition.

Miss Okon said that the workshop was to solicit the support of the media towards reporting violence against women.
Also speaking, a Port Harcourt-based journalist and gender advocate, Miss Constance Meju, said that the essence of the workshop was to arouse sympathy and empathy for victims.
Meju also blamed the level of impunity in the  society on power and control by men.
She said that there is argent need for the media to redirect its focus to save women from violence, stressing that, cultural issues must be addressed to save women from violence.
