Rivers Guber Aspirant Pledges To Fight Pollution

A governorship
aspirant in Rivers state in the 2015 elections, Prince Emmanuel Benibo, says adequate attention would be paid to the issue of environmental pollution of the state, if voted into office.
Addressing newsmen recently in Port Harcourt, Prince Benibo said that his government would liaise with multinational companies and other organisations to reduce the rate of carbon emission into the atmosphere.
He also said that the issue of illegal oil bunkering would be addressed through the creation of employment opportunities, while sensitisation programmes on the dangers of illegal oil bunkering would be regularly organised across the state.
Prince Benibo also promised to check the problem of coastal erosion through reclamation and construction of shore protections across vulnerable communities, while bridges will be built to link coastal communities with the upland.
Others include the development of agriculture and eco tourism, saying that decentralization policies will be evolved and to this end, development centres will be created across the state to give room for rural dwellers to participate massively in their governance, while an aggressive health and education policies will be developed.
Benibo also urged politicians to desist from acts that are capable of creating violence in the state, while also urging youths to desist from being used to foment trouble in the society.
