The Chairman,
Board of Egi City Development Authority, Pastor Nonyem Wokoma, has disagreed with the Federal Government over its flood prediction this year.
The Federal Government through the Ministry of Water Resources in its flood outlook for 2014 predicted massive flooding this year.
The report also listed Ogba Egbema /Ndoni which is the home of Egi City Development Authority as one of the areas that will be affected by flooding this year.
However in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt Pastor Wokoma said that the prediction might have been blown out of proportion as the expected flooding might not come after all.
He said that, apart from the 2012 flooding the last time the disaster occured was 1969 then he was a youngman, stressing that it took 30 years interval from 1969 to 2012 for flooding to occure.
The Board Chairman urged that going by that interval it is unlikely that there will be flooding this year as predicted by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.
Pastor Wokoma also said that Egi people will not be taken by surprise this time around, if the prediction eventually comes to pass.
According to him, the Egi City Development Authority has already Marshaled are out plans to deal with the situation stressing that, the people will be evacuated to safely once the flooding comes.
He also revealed that the people are also banking on support of their corporate friends such as Total Nigeria limited which was behind them during the 2012 flooding.
