Hon Ngo who was represented at the occasion by Mr Boma Amaso said that parents  must build  the character of their children and regretted that recent events in the society had  pointed to the fact that the issue of virginity was being swept under the carpet.

Hon Okpokiri also pledged to make copies of the book available in all schools in Okrika.

In her opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Professor (Mrs) Charity Okujagu said that the author had taken a bold step to contribute towards moral rejuvenation in the society.

She also said that the issue of virginity is not only for the girl child, but also for boys and charged the young people to give their lives to Christ.

The Author of the book; Mrs Augusta Ayotamuno said that the whole concept of the book ; “Virginity A Treasure”, was born out  a burden and concern for our youths, the level of immorality in our society and how our values have been pushed to the background.

She said that a society where immorality evil and violence are celebrated is heading for destruction.

Mrs Augusta, who said that the got married as a virgin at the age of 25, however noted that virginity is not for girls alone, but for the boys as well, even though the girl child is more vulnerable when it comes to issues about morals and the consequences that follow.

She also stressed the need for people to recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ that we were created by God in his image to show forth His praise.

The Author who described the home as the nucleus of the society, said that in line with Biblical injunction a child should be train in the way he or she should go so that when he is old he will not depart from it.
