The General Manager of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), Ms Medline Tador, has described the Ladi Lawal NUJ Best Sports Reporter of the year in the country for 2012 awarded to Bridon Sika, a staff of the corporation as a vindication that Radio Rivers still remains one of the best in the country.
Ms Tador who spoke at a reception organised by the corporation for Mr Sika last Wednesday in Port Harcourt, also said that the award was not only for the corporation but the entire state.
According to her, the reception was to appreciate hardwork and the goodwill the award had brought to the establishment.
She said that the corporation would continue to do its best to improve not only the quality of its services, but also staff, by organising more trainings for them.
The general manager said that the corporation would showcase Baridon Sika during its forthcoming 10th Annual Easter Choral Festival.
Miss Tador also said that the award was a challenge to other staff of the establishment to take their job seriously as well as improve their skills by attending workshops and seminars.
The Director, News and Current Affairs of Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Miss Lizzy Wilfred Fombo also charged other staffers of the corporation to emulate Sika’s example by putting in their best.
Miss Fombo charged them to cooperate with management to make the corporation the pride of the Niger Delta.
In their separate speeches, the chairman, Radio Rivers chapel of the NUJ, Mr Obed Omar and his RATTAWU counterpart, Mr Friday Yilbe said that Mr Baridon had brought honour to the corporation.
Responding, Baridon Sika attributed the gesture to the effort of Late Boma Erekosima who he said urged him to take active interest in journalism.
Mr Sika whom dedicated the award to the corporation, also urged those in high positions to encourage those working under them.
