The former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Hon. Sunny Bekanwa, says the Ogonis will bargain with Governor Ezenwo Wike over the issue of Ogoni governmentship at the appropriate time.
Bekanwa, who said this in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt said that Governor Wike also has the constitutional right to contest for a second term in office.
The former Khana CTC chairman also said that he was in support of the call by Ogoni stakeholders in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the governor to recontest for a second term in office. He argued that even though it was the wish of the Ogonis to produce a Governor of Rivers State, Governor Wike, having performed well, deserves a second term in office.
According to him, the present administration has impacted more than others on the Ogonis, stressing that the governor has not only empowered many youths in Ogoni but is doing more projects in the area than other administrations.
Bekanwa said on-going projects in the area  included, the dualisation of the Saakpenwa, Bori, Kono road, the rehabilitation of the Birabi Memorial Grammar School (BMGS), Bori and several other schools across Ogoni.
“We should give Governor Wike another opportunity to rule the state. He has done well” , he said. Bekanwa further said that without Governor Wike some youths like him would not have had the opportunity to be at the helm of affairs in Khana and other local government areas.
He said that the youth and entire Ogonis will queue behind the governor if he decided to run for a second term in office.
Bekanwa also advised youths in Ogoni to remain peaceful and support the governor to enable him develop the state.
