RSNC Tasks Rivers Workers On Unity, Hardwork

The General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of  The Tide  newspaper, Mr  Vincent Ake, has stressed  the need for workers in the state to unite and work for the growth of the state to achieve set goals.
Ake said this last Thursday when the  executive  members of the Nigeria Labour Congres (NLC), Rivers State chapter, paid him a courtesy  visit in the corporation’s conference hall in Port Harcourt.
The NLC team was led by the Chairperson, Comrmade (Mrs) Beatrice  Itubo.
The RSNC boss charged the labour leaders to enlighten their members on the need to take their  jobs seriously to enable their various establishments  meet their needs,  pointing out that the attitude of  some workers toward their jobs was not  encouraging and did not promote high productivity.
He  reiterated the management’s preparedness and commitment in ensuring harmonious  working relationship with its staff and reassured that  the staff would always get what is due them  despite  the lean  resources  of the corporation while thanking the NLC executive members for the visit.
Ake used the occasion to call on the adductors of the JUSUN  officers to kindly release their victims unconditionally and unhurt to enable them rejoin  their  families.
Earlier, the chairperson of the union, Mrs Beatrice Itubo  had told  The Tide general  manager  that they were on the visit  to familiarise  themselves   with him and also  assess the performances  of the corporation’s  staff  as well as sensitise  them on the activities and present  position of the union in the state.
According to her, the visit has afforded them the opportunity of soliciting the support of workers  of the corporation to the cause of the union in the state.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Manager of the Rivers State Government Printing   Press, Mr Bello Olatunde has commended the staff of  the establishment for  their work and dedication  to duty despite the numerous challenges facing them.
During  a similar visit by the State NLC Administrative Council in his office, Olatunde enumerated some of the problems facing the department which include shortage of staff, among others.
