Etche Communities Seek Recognition Of Stools

Three communities in Etche Local Lovernment Area of Rivers State are jointly demanding the recognition and classification of the Onye-Ishi-Ala Chokota Stool as a second class traditional stool in Rivers State.
The communities are Chokoto, Ikwerrengwo and Umuebulu.
Paramount ruler of Chokota Community, HRH, Eze Ishmael Okechukwu Nweke who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in his palace said that the three communities have already submitted a memorandum to this effect to the panel on recognition and classification of chieftaincy stools in Rivers State.
Eze Nweke said that the three communities deserve recognition of their chieftaincy stool in view of their contributions to the growth and development of the state.
He described the area as the hub of oil and gas industry in Etche local government area, adding that with its growing population, the recognition of the Onye-Ishi-Ala Chokota, will place the traditional institution in the area in a vantage position to check all irregularities in the area.
Eze Nweke expressed confidence that the panel would accede to the demand of the communities by recommending second class status for the Onye-Ishi-Ala Chokota Stool.
He also called for the completion of the abandoned Chokota Model Primary School as well as the flag-off of construction of the Chokota Ikwerrengwo Umuebulu road, to improve businesses in the area.
“Wike is God-sent to improve the lives of the people of Rivers State and not just Etche.
“As a people, we have benefitted so much from the present ministration”.
Eze Nweke assure of his community’s continuous support for the administration.
