Chief of Staff Dame (Mrs) Grace Chukwuemeka Woke has charged mothers in the state to see themselves as role models for the girl-child in their respective families.
Speaking during the 2016 mothering Sunday celebration at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church Rumuadaolu Parish, Mrs Emeka Woke also urged mothers to discourage their female children from watching home movies.
She said that in inline with the theme of the celebration, women must see themselves as home builders adding that the society would have a lot of problems of the women failed to perform their roles as home-builders.
Also speaking, the Vicar in charge of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Rumuadaolu Parish, Rev. Canon Abuoma Samuel said with the fear of God that the women would overcome the challenges associated with home-building.
According to him, no woman can be a perfect home-builder if she does not have the fear of God, adding that apart from proclaiming the word of God, it should also be put into practice.
On her part, the guest preacher Dame Okechukwu Owhondah said that the theme of the celebration, “Woman, A Perfect Home-Builder” was very significant given the rate of youth restiveness and other social problems in the society.
Dame Owhonda said that time had come for mothers to step up their roles as home-builders, adding that the celebration should be an occasion for self re-examination on areas where there were lapses in society.
According to her, women must know that the world is looking up to them as home builders, stressing that all materialistic tendencies and others must no longer be the primary focus of mothers.
