RSSDA Restates Commitment To Partner With Groups

The  Rivers State Sustain
able Development Agency (RSSDA) has indicated its readiness to partner with relevant groups to improve  the condition of the citizenry.
The Executive  Director/Chief  executive officer  of the Agency, Mr. Noble  Pepple,  gave the indication in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of  policy working group with Labour Market Assessment (IMA).
The inauguration was done by the Agency inconjuction with the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Project  (NSRP).
Pepple  said that the groups comprising  officials of the Ministries of Women Affairs, Employment  Generation, Youth Development, Budget Economic Planning, Shell  Petroleum  Development  Company of Nigeria (SPDC), Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Mines  Agriculture and Industry (PHCCIMA) and the Rivers State Partnership for Sustainable  Development are expected to pull resources together  with  the view to under studying the  supply and demand of skill across the state.
He was optimistic that the work of the Group  would help the RSSDA  to know areas to place more  emphases on job creation as well as bridge the skills  gap across the state.
According to Pepple, the  activities of the group would be useful to the incoming administration in its bid to tackle  the challenges of unemployment in the state.
Also speaking, the country manager of Nigeria  Stability and Reconcilliation Project, Dr. Ukoha  Ukiwo, said  that the programme  is part of the measures to reduce  conflict in the Niger Delta.
Ukiwo, who was represented by Ineba Bobmanuel, said that labour market  assessment is one of the key strategies  to mitigate conflict, adding that the study would provide  the tools for policy  makers to take good  decision on the creation of job opportunities.
In his presentation, Mr. Kenneth Nwokoro,  noted  that the policy working group  will act as advisory body  to key policy makers in the state.
According to him, the selection of membership was based on relevant experience in the field of policy making and implementations.
