The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has indicated willingness to partner with civil society organisations to improve service delivery in the state.
The Executive Director of the Agency, Mr. Godwin Poi stated this during a courtesy call by members of civil society platform in his office.
Mr. Poi said that the Agency was set up to improve the lives of the people in the areas of job creation, education and agriculture, stressing that the Agency has strived very hard to keep within its objectives.
Mr. Poi also said that since inception over 2,118 persons have benefitted from the overseas scholarship programme of the Agency, adding that though some of the students were having challenges, the new Administration was making every efforts to tackle the situation.
According to him, apart from settling the tuition fees of final years students abroad, the State Governor also made commitment in writing to the various schools to pay up their fees, stressing that some of the schools have accepted the offer, while others have rejected it.
The Executive Director also said that the Governor has made available some financial support to the Agency in respect of the Cassava initiative while the Agro-City project was also on course.
Speaking, the President of Civil Society platform, Mr. Emmanuel Nkweke commended the management of the Agency for the quality services being delivered to the people of the state.
Mr. Nkweke said that the organisation was delighted with the achievements recorded so far by the Agency, since inception, stressing that the Agency has touched virtually every sector of the state.
He used the occasion to pledge the support of the group to the Agency.
