The Rivers State Government has vowed to deploy all available resources to check the rising wave of criminality in the state.
Secretary to the State government, Mr.Kenneth Kobani, who said this during a courtesy call on him by members of Social Restoration Foundation a non-governmental organisation from Gokana local Government Area, said that government will not fold its hands and watch miscreants destroy communities in the state.
Kobani also said that the state government was working hard to ensure that every Rivers person is given the opportunity to participate in every economic activity in the state.
The SSG also told members of the group to go to their various communities and preach the message of peace to the youth.
“You should assist the government to advise the youth not to take the laws into their hands.
“It is your responsibility to assist the government to solve the problem of cultism, because as a government, we cannot continue folding our hands and allow miscreants to destroy the communities.
“There must be peace in Gokana,” he said.
Kobani, who called for patient and support to the government, said that the present administration in the state needs some time to correct all the wrongs committed by past administrations in the state.
He commended the group for their support to the present administration, assuring that no part of Gokana will be neglected in terms of development.
Earlier, the co-ordinator of the group, Sir Stephen Kobani, said that the visit was to thank and appreciate Governor Nyesom Wike for appointing Kobani as Secretary to the state government.
Kobani also prayed for the successful tenure of Kenneth Kobani as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment during the last days of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
