The Rivers State Director National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Oliver Wollugbom has cautioned politicians against making inciting statements on the just–concluded general elections.
Wollugbom, who gave the advice in an exclusive interview with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt, also advised those who are aggrieved over the out come of the elections to either go to election petitions tribunal or start preparing for the 2019 general elections.
He said that politicians in Rivers State must learn from President Goodluck Jonathan by not dragging the state into another round of crisis.
On his assessment of the elections, Wollugbom said that in as much as every elections has its peculiarities, the just-concluded election have witnessed an improvement over the 2011 elections.
“Although there are isolated pockets of violence, it does not take away the fact that the elections were free and fair”.
He said that reports across the state indicated that, while people were eager to vote, the fear of violence, however made some stay away.
The state NOA director further said that the used of the card readers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) went a long way to check fraud in the system.
Meanwhile, Wollugbom has said that the just-concluded elections have put to shame those who prophesied doomsdays for the nation in 2015.
