Botem Tourney: DECAT FC Emerges 2014 Champions

DECAT FC has emerged winner of the 2014 edition of Botem Football tournament with a 1-0 victory over Sunco FC also of Botem in the Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The tournament which was sponsored by the Hon. Member representing Tai Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly  Hon. (Mrs) Felicia Tanen was  contested by six football clubs in the area.
Speaking at the finals of the competition, the sponsor said that the tournament was organised with a view to providing the youth the opportunity to develop their individual potentials.
Hon. Tanen also said that the competition would be expanded to include more sports to enable more persons to be involved, stressing that the situation would go a long way in checking cultism, poltical thuggery and other social vices usually engaged in by idle minds.
She said that if the youth are kept busy, restiveness will be checked and noted the need for youth in the area to engage in meaningful activities that will improve their livelihood. She urged them to desist from being used to forment trouble.
Tidesports  learnt that the champions, DECAT FC carted home the sum of N100,000 while first and second runners-up went home with N50,000 and N25,000 respectively.
