Amos said that the 72 Waste Managers will be charged with the responsibilities of engaging cross sections of youths in the business of refuse collection and cleanliness of gutters.
He said that more youths were being engaged in public works such as road maintenance and repairs stressing that some roads have been designated to benefit from the programme in all the senatorial zones.
Amos listed Ojoto and Elechi roads all in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt city as some of the benefitting roads, stressing that works were on-going on the roads.
According to him, SEEFOR which is a World Bank assisted project was meant to create employment for the teeming unemployed youths of the Niger Delta, thereby reducing poverty and checking restiveness among youths in the region.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget/Economic Planning, Sir Promise Njiowhor who also spoke said that it was important for those inspecting the programme to take their jobs seriously.
Njiowhor emphasised that all stakeholders including communities have been fully mobilised to support those involved in sanitation, road maintenance and others.
The Permanent Secretary said that the programme would surely bring peace to the state as many youths will be taken off the streets.
