The Rotary Club of
Port Harcourt Airfield District 9140, has concluded a feasibility study for the construction of a waterproject in Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The club president, Rotarian Nma Phil Onuigbo disclosed this to newsmen during the club’s annual September Youth celebration in Port Harcourt.
Rotarian Onuigbo also said that apart from the proposed water project in Eneka, the club will in the next one year provide potable water and sanitation facilities at some schools in Port Harcourt.
She said that the programme was designed to check waterborne diseases as well as promote personal hygiene among communities in the state.
Rotarian Onuigbo said that the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Airfield which was recently chartered is out to make a difference in the lives of people within its catchment areas.
She said that apart from water and sanitation projects, the club is also equipping libraries as well as assisting the less privileged in the society.
Specifically, she said that the club is assisting in the rehabilitation of street children by supporting De marillac centre for street children in Diobu.
The Rotary president said that the annual September for youths and Rotaractors was to seek for ways of harnessing their energies towards improving the courses of Rotary Club and that of the larger society.
Speaking, Rotarian Tamuno Opubo Tami urged for the inclusion of more young people in the activities of Rotary.
