Ex-Dep Gov Rates Amaechi High On Education

The former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir. G.T.G. Toby has rated the administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi high in the provision of quality education for the State.
Toby said this in an interview with newsmen at the Archdeacon Brown Education Centre (ABEC)Group of Schools’ Unity Day celebration at the weekend in Woji, near Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
He said that the objective of the ABEC Group of Schools was in line with the policy of the State government aimed at providing quality education for the people.
Toby said that, ABEC Group of Schools has proved that morally and academically sound children can be brought up in an environment that gives them self-confidence, stressing that it was something other schools are trying to emulate.
The former deputy governor said that products from ABEC Group of schools were excelling in various universities across the world.
Toby, who is the Chairman of the Group of schools, said that the unity day celebration was an annual event designed to fosters closer interactions between management, staff, children and parents.
He used the occasion to advise parents to be inquisitive about their children’s conditions in schools, especially during holidays by probing into their academic work.
In her welcome address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ABEC Group of Schools, Dame Christie Toby, said that the School was built on the foundation of instilling in children, the virtues of self-confidence and ability to do something right.
Dame Toby also said that, the management has introduced e-learning in all its schools.
According to her, children from the schools have excelled in Universities both within and outside the country.
Earlier in his address, the Headmaster of ABEC Nursery/Primary School, Woji, Mr. Felix B. Inameti said that ABEC is one great Institution separated by campuses.
Inameti said that the unity day ushers great blessings for the schools, stressing that ABEC Group has set the pace and maintained high standard in its goal of producing all-round, self-sufficient and self-actualized individuals who will take their places in the evolving technologically advanced Nigeria.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of cash rewards to some hardworking staff by the managing director of the school.
