ACEP Co-ordinator Blames Man For Global Warming

The coordinatior of the
African Centre for Environmental Protection (ACEP), Mr Christian Idibia, says more than 70 per cent challenges facing the environment is caused by man.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Mr Idibia said that man must be held responsible  for the various natural disasters across the world.
He listed some of the activities of mean that has affected the environment, to include, the continuous flaring of gas by at companies, increasing number of bush burning as well as the construction of buildings on water right of ways.
Mr Idibia said that, this situation has led to global warning, increased in water level which has resulted to flooding as well as giving rise to various infectious diseases.
The ACEP coordinator also condemned the continuous use of dynamite by fishermen to kill fish, use of tyres to burn meat at abattoirs amongst others.
He said that time has come for various governments across the world to put in place legislations to check the activities of man as for as the environment was concerned.
Mr Idibia also urged the government to implement its promise of ending gas flaring in the country, stressing that time has come for the government to take drastic action towards environmental sustainability.
He said that, the centre would continue to sensitise the people against all forms of anti-environmental initiatives.
Also speaking with The Tide Prince Sodin Akiagba, stressed the need for the government to implement all relevant policies on the environment.
According to him, environmental policies must be implemented to create an impact on the people.
