The Engenni Eminent Persons Group in Ahoada West Local Government Area, has described Governor Nyesom Wike as an instrument of God in the affairs of the emerging Engenni Kingdom.
Chairman of the group, Dr Harvey Warman, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt while reacting to the appointment of an Engenni son as a Permanent Secretary by Governor Wike, said the present administration had placed Engenni at par with other ethnic nationalities in Rivers State.
Dr. Warman said Governor Wike’s administration was the only administration that gave Engenni first class chieftaincy status since 1966, thereby placing Engenni at par with other Kingdoms in Rivers State.
“Also, Engenni had had no high official representation in the administration of Rivers State since Odili,” adding that the entire Engenni people are happy with Governor Wike for recognising that Engenni deserves a pride of place in the scheme of things in Rivers State.
The elder statesman described Mr Apapa D. Apapa, one of the newly sworn in Permanent Secretaries in Rivers State, as a round peg in a round hole, stressing that the new permeanent secretary will surely bring his wealth of experience to bear in the administration of the state.
“We consider him forth- right, efficient and honest in all ramifications. We are sure that he will serve the government forthrightly,” he said.
Dr Warman also expressed confidence that the state government would find Apapa D. Apapa worthy for any responsibility that will be entrusted him, stressing that the Engennis are proud having such a son in the hierarchy of government.
The elder statesman further assured that the Engennis would continue to support the programmes and policies of the Wike administration.
